Hmm, I have mixed feelings about this track.
I think you mixed it pretty well but you used such a generic set of 4 chords and repeated them so many times... It's a shame, I think you could really be more original with all this.
Having said that I think it would be easy to sing to as you said you're looking for a vocalist.
Don't take this the wrong way, I encourage you to continue and try harder, not to give up. :)

larryloko responds:

thanx and i appreciate the honesty... yeah i know that the track is very repetitive... the whole EP was intended for vocals but my artist kinda flaked on me so i just released them as is :/

Oh cool, new toys. Isn't always such an exciting experience to discover all the new possibilities?! I love that feeling, it always inspires me.
There are some really pretty motifs in this and I liked how you use the orchestra to create rhythm too, not just melody.
Since you're just experimenting I'm sure I don't really need to give in-depth feedback, you'll likely learn it all yourself in time and I don't want to take that away from you. :)

Neon-Bard responds:

It certainly is! The endless amount of possibilities that are in front of me now and somewhat paralyzing. I'm not even sure where to begin with my next piece!

Thanks for taking the time to listen to this 'experimental' piece, I'm glad you found that it had some "pretty motifs". :)

Hey that's a really cool concept you have there and I love the retro bass especially. May I ask what you used to make it?
Good work!

DuttonsaysHi responds:

Thanks man! and the basses are 2 different sega bass sound fonts, slightly separated from each other. layered with a custom slap bass sound with the maelstrom synthesizer in reason. Thanks again :)

Hey nice track, could do with some more things going on at times but your melodies are interesting and it has an interesting rhythm. Good job.
Scouted you too. ;)

SynixAudio responds:

Thanks man appreciate it, I tried too hold back on intense melodies so when the big melodic bit kicked in it had more BOOM!!!

Hey cool track! Unusual for something with this goal in mind.

SourJovis responds:

Thanks! I was afraid it would be too cheesy or common.

Awesome song with a nice change half way through. Solid job!
If you're excited about "Pacific Rim" then just watch the thing they ripped it off from - Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's a bit strange, but it's a very epic mech vs alien anime and Pacific Rim looks just like it.

DuttonsaysHi responds:

Thank you! :D

And I'm very aware of evangelion, It's one of my favourite animes :D I love the reboots and I'm so looking forward to the 3rd. But they didn't come up with neural connection to mech concept, it's been done many times before. Look up 'Robot Jox' for example. And of course there's 'Gozilla' with giant monsters vs giant monsters vs robots vs other giant stuff but that's another story :P.

Pacific Rim looks like it's taken inspiration from a lot of those great concepts and I'm a huge fan of mech stuff so I can't wait to see it! :D Thanks again!

Very well done. Could maybe have used more variation in the lower instruments but it was awesome nonetheless.

Neon-Bard responds:

Thanks man! I agree with you there about the lower instruments, I'll keep working with them for future songs! Again, thanks for listening! :)

Funky track, could use more work on the mix, especially for the kick drum which is currently suffering from a weird reverb. Try cutting from 150hz to 600hz by a few db to make it less boomy and clearer then boost it by a few db from 60 to 100hz to compensate if you feel it needs it.

I think "weird" is the word of the day for the tracks I've been finding and reviewing. Heh
;)

Ultraconsole responds:

Hey thanks for the advice!
I will mess with it later and see if I can fix that bass :D

Want your drums to hit harder?
3 easy steps:
Kick drums: Boost 60 to 100hz by a few db, cut from 200 to 600hz by a few db to allow the bass to cut through
Snares: Boost at 600hz by a few db, then boost the high frequencies as need to make it cut through the mix.
General percussion: Compression is a VERY powerful tool when it comes to percussion, learn about its uses and you can really enhance your drums.
