Do you have long term goals? I'm not the kind to set myself specific goals because, although I work really well under pressure, I prefer the laid-back approach if I can afford it.

Despite that, about three years ago I set my heart on being able to sing, (because I like an impossible challenge). I can remember it quite well, I was watching that Tarzan film by Disney with the soundtrack and vocals by Phil Collins and I found myself singing along (very badly, couldn't hit all the notes, either). I sounded like I had a sock in my mouth, too.

Today, my goal is still the same, to be able to sing well and to be comfortable with my voice as an instrument. I'm still not there but I like to think I'm making progress. And It's made me realise that if you really want something and try hard enough to get it, there's a good chance you'll one day be standing there with a big, stupid grin on your face because someone told you your voice reminded them of Corey Taylor from Slipknot (when he's not shouting down the mic/murdering childrens' innocent minds).

A friend of mine released this cool little ep/thing with some awesome tracks. It's quite quirky, some of you might like it. I do. ^^

MetalRenard Or For The Love Of Foxes.

Foxes are kind.

Foxes like to play.

And foxes know that when the time comes, you have to work hard to help others (such as helping to clean windows...)

I love foxes. ^_^

Zomg I love this album. Just had to post about it here.

I've been a massive Ego Raptor fan for... so damn long. His cartoons (along with Rockoons) are what helped me discover Newgrounds and now he and his pals at Ninja Sex Party have made a parody album featuring hilarious (toilet) jokes and tons of wonderful (mysoginistic) satire. I couldn't help myself, I had to buy a copy. 80's style vocals and retro electronic with some pretty neat rapping (yeah... I don't usually like rap but when every other line makes me giggle I can't honestly complain).

Listen to it before you buy - some people might not like the type of jokes but for me, as immature as I am, it's perfect.

<3 Starbomb.

So now I have EWQL's bundle and Komplete 8 as well as some nifty tools for mixing/mastering (and of course the guitar equipment), I feel like I have almost everything I need to make any music I set my mind to. My next goal is to get a good microphone then I'd finally have everything I need to conquer the universe.

It's been a long time coming and I've struggled for a long time to get here (years), and sure, quite a lot of it could do with upgrading (Komplete 8's orchestral instruments are very weak and still have to use some to cover areas that are missing from EWQL's instruments). But I finally feel like my tools match my creativity rather than limit it. :)

It's a good feeling.

Teaching/being a trainee teacher in the UK is probably one of the more difficult jobs out there.
The hours are impossibly long, you're constantly being observed and there's a really steep learning curve.

All that lead to me having a really crap couple of weeks, tons of stress and pent up frustration.
I managed to sort a lot of things out thankfully, so this weekend I was able to spend a few hours making music.

To be honest, I've had the urge to try my hand at melodic death metal for a while now. I'm a massive fan of bands like Scar Symmetry and Soilwork and I find their guitar riffs and vocals really inspiring. They're so damn creative. So, I did what I could in the time I had and came up with this:

It definitely made me feel a little better.
